Asst. Prof. Dr. Nagisa Moritoki Škof

Dr. Nagisa Moritoki Škof is an Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies at the Department of Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. Her research interests include Japanese linguistics, language pedagogy, corpus linguistics, language policy, and education for individuals with special needs.

She collaborates with researchers from Central Europe and Japan on various topics in linguistics and language education, and has delivered lectures in Japan, Croatia, Poland, Turkey, and elsewhere. She serves as an external researcher at the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics (2017–2021, 2023– ) and at the University of Tsukuba. She is the Chair of the Association for Japanese Language Didactics in Slovenia (since 2016), former Chair of the Association of Teachers of Japanese in Europe (2020–2023), and Chair of the Global Network for Japanese Language Education (2020–2024).

In 2025, she received a Commendation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs for strengthening academic ties between Slovenia and Japan and actively promoting student exchanges between the University of Ljubljana and Japanese universities.
